Steve Brantley is an Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office in Greenbelt, Maryland. He joined the Maryland USAO in October 2022, where he works primarily on money laundering and asset forfeiture matters. Before this, Steve prosecuted narcotics and violent crime cases at the US Attorney’s Office in Nashville, Tennessee, from 2021 to 2022, and served as a Trial Attorney in the DOJ’s Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section (MLARS) from 2018 to 2021. As an MLARS Trial Attorney, Steve investigated and prosecuted complex, multi-district fraud, narcotics, money laundering, and asset forfeiture cases. In addition to his prior work at MLARS and the Nashville USAO, Steve has served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. Before law school Steve worked for several large, multi-national financial institutions in a variety of roles, including anti-money laundering and Bank Secrecy Act compliance. Steve received his undergraduate degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and his law degree, magna cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia.
