Alison

Alison currently leads the Compliance Policy, Training, and Reporting programs at Square, Inc. Before joining Square in 2021, she held financial crimes compliance roles with HSBC and Charles Schwab. Prior to her move into financial services nearly a decade ago, Alison worked for 10 years at the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), which included two years as an exchange officer with the UK Ministry of Defence in London as well as one-year appointment with the U.S. Senate Sub-Committee on Defense Appropriations. She first became interested in financial services, and more specifically compliance, during her tenure at DoD, where she helped develop and implement weapons of mass destruction-related sanctions against North Korea, Syria, and Iran. Alison holds a bachelor’s degree from Barnard College and a master’s degree in public policy from the LBJ School at the University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of the U.S. Government's 2004 class of Presidential Management Fellows.
