Sara is a partner based in Mourant's Cayman Islands office and heads the Caribbean Regulatory Practice. Sara qualified as a solicitor (non-practicing) in the United Kingdom in 2001, was admitted as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands in 2005 and in the British Virgin Islands in 2019. Sara has significant experience with both Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands regulatory matters; including anti-money laundering, regulatory compliance, sanctions, beneficial ownership, economic substance, regulation of funds and other registrants/licensees. She also has experience with data protection and other evolving regulatory regimes, as well as licensing applications, inspections and enforcement matters. Prior to specializing in¬ regulatory law, Sara's offshore practice focused on investment funds (both hedge funds and private equity), as well as general corporate law and structured finance transactions. This transactional experience allows Sara to bring a solutions-oriented, common sense approach to regulatory issues facing her clients.
