Frameworks Beyond Fiat: Crypto Risk Management as Part of a Holistic AFC Program

Jas is the Managing Partner at StrategyBRIX, a boutique Risk and Compliance Consulting firm. Before StrategyBRIX, Jas served as the Head of Financial Crimes and Compliance at leading fintechs, including Stripe and Airwallex. In addition, at PwC, Jas built and led the firm’s Financial Crimes (Fintech) practice across the US West Coast.

He has over 18 years of experience with building and managing programs in the Compliance space. In his role, Jas works closely with CCOs, CROs, and product leaders to solve complex risk, compliance, and monitoring problems. Additionally, as a part of the Bank Secrecy Act Advisory Group (BSAAG), he advised the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the United States Department of the Treasury, in areas of Digital Identity Verification, KYC, and using advanced technologies to solve financial crimes.

Jas is a regular speaker at industry events, a member of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS), and an executive committee member of the West Coast AML Forum (WCAML).

Eric Goldberg is a Partner in Akerman's Consumer Financial Services Practice Group who focuses on payments and fintech issues. Previously, Eric was Managing Counsel for Regulations at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) where he led the Agency’s payments regulatory work. At Akerman, Eric evaluates federal and state regulatory issues that arise for providers of prepaid accounts, money transmission services, credit cards and other lending products, earned wage access services, and on fintech products such as those involving virtual currency, blockchain, and consumer data aggregation. Eric evaluates UDAAP risk and counsels clients on issues arising under the federal consumer finance laws, the Dodd-Frank and FTC Acts, BSA/AML, and state licensing consumer protection laws. While at the CFPB, Eric led rulemakings on prepaid accounts and remittance transfers and was involved in the Agency’s innovation activities. Eric is frequent writer and speaker on consumer finance issues including on regulators' innovation and sandbox initiatives.

Shelley has worked in technical and compliance roles for the last 35 years across insurance, risk, institutional and retail banking; bringing her own straight-talking, pragmatic analysis and anecdotes.  Shelley has had the privilege of working for a number of small and large firms, such as HSBC, EY, EFG Private Bank, Aviva, Marsh, Pay.UK and is currently Chief Compliance Officer for CEX.io, a leading global crypto exchange.   Shelley is an outspoken advocate for minorities in the workplace.  She combines knowing "what good looks like" in trad-fi with enthusiasm for living within and alongside the metaverse with a reimagined regulatory matrix for web3 and beyond.

Mat Seneviratne BM is Global Anti-Financial Crime Partner for Digital Assets & Virtual Currencies at Deutsche Bank, where he is responsible for advising and overseeing DB's advancements into digital assets. Prior to that, Mat was MLRO at Revolut, a global fintech.

Mat has 18 years of diverse experience in financial crime risk management, including Federal Agent at the Australian Federal Police, Policy Analyst at the Financial Action Task Force and Risk Advisory at Deloitte.

Mat sits on the National Crime Agency Public-Private Operational Board, overseeing UK operational partnership capability including the UK Joint Money Laundering Intelligence Taskforce (JMLIT).

He is a sessional lecturer at Charles Sturt University teaching various financial crime topics.

Mathew holds a Master of Policing, Intelligence and Counter Terrorism, Bachelor of International Business, Bachelor of Arts and is a recipient of the Bravery Medal (BM).
