Presentation on the Bergen County Prosecutor’s office’s continued efforts to combat Romance scams aka Sha Zhu Pan or “Pig Butchering”. Victims are often groomed through social media platforms. Cryptocurrency transactions taking front and center with large transfers of funds going to popular platforms before being sent to overseas exchanges with little or no KYC information. Law Enforcement has been making strides in our collaboration and capabilities to recover funds.
