Coates
Mike Coates is a Senior Executive and Plenitude’s Asia Practice Lead with over 20 years banking industry experience covering large change programmes and within the last ten years has focused on financial crime programmes helping organisations become compliant via People, process and technology change whilst also driving remediations where there have been gaps and regulatory demands.
Prior to joining the Plenitude team, Mike led a substantial FCC change programme for the commercial bank business in HSBC across 18 countries and ~750k clients in Asia and supported the heads of business both regionally and in the various countries. He worked closely with the risk teams in managing all aspects of the financial crime control framework. In the last 3 years, Mike has undertaken the MLRO role at a local HK based crypto company and also worked with Standard Charter to remediate their Securities Services business based on ISSA standards (International Securities Services Association).
Mike sits on an industry group for crypto (GDF) and also works for “The Mekong Club” which is an NGO focused on human trafficking. His exposure to real life implications of FCC, make Mike passionate about the subject and determined to address any gaps or failings as he has seen the consequences of failure.
