Meisel
Omer Meisel leads the Complex Investigations and Intelligence Section (CII), where he oversees the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) which is composed of the Anti-Money Laundering Group (AML) and the Anti-Fraud Investigative Group (AFI); the High Risk Representative Group (HRR); the Vulnerable Adults and Seniors Team (VAST); the Cyber and Analytics Unit (CAU) which is composed of the Cyber Security Group (CSG), the Cyber-Enabled Fraud Group (CEF), and the Analytics Threat Targeting Group (ATT); and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
Prior to joining FINRA in 2021, Mr. Meisel spent more than 22 years at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). In his last assignment, he was the Assistant Special Agent In Charge of the FBI’s San Diego Division where he led the Cyber Branch (National Security and Criminal), the Counterintelligence Branch, and the Intelligence Branch. Mr. Meisel’s career as a Special Agent in the FBI included specializing in complex corporate and securities fraud, money laundering, financial crimes, and international terrorism investigations. He also served on the Enron Task Force as a senior investigator. Mr. Meisel served in numerous leadership positions at the FBI, both domestic and international, to include Acting Special Agent In Charge of the San Diego Division where he was the head of the division.
Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Meisel worked for the National Association of Securities Dealers, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and was a trader.
Mr. Meisel has a J.D. from the University of Denver Strum College of Law and a B.A. in Economics from The Ohio State University.
