Jankunas
Edmundas Jankunas is Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Lithuania (FIU Lithuania) which is organised under a law enforcement “model” and is integrated part of the Financial Crime Investigation Service under the Ministry of Interior.
In a relatively short period of time after joining FIU Lithuania in October 2020, a number of significant projects were initiated and implemented in relation to further modernisation of STR/CTR risk analysis and e-Case systems, optimisation of analysis processes and establishment of the new Supervision division.
Prior to joining FIU Lithuania, Edmundas worked as Head of International Liaison Office of the Lithuanian Criminal Police Bureau (Europol-INTERPOL-SIRENE), Head of Lithuanian Liaison Desk at Europol and held various other positions within Lithuanian police. In his thirty years of experience as police officer, he focused his practice mainly on international police cooperation in the field of fighting serious and organised crime and supporting law enforcement operations.
Edmundas also served as alternate member of the Europol Management Board 2018-2020, Chairman of the Council of the European Union Working Group Schengen Information System SIS/SIRENE during the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU Council in second semester of 2013, Chairman of the Task Force on Organised Crime in the Baltic Sea Region (BSTF) from 01/01/2011 to 31/12/2012. In addition, he has an extensive EU and UN peacekeeping missions experience (EUPM-Bosnia and Herzegovina, UNTAES - Eastern Slavonia, Former Yugoslavia and UNMIK - Kosovo).
