Samuel Barnett is a Policy Advisor in the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes (TFFC). He leads policy coordination, development, and outreach for Treasury’s efforts to counter corruption, human rights abuses, and related issues, including through the use of relevant anti-money laundering/countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) and sanctions authorities. He focuses, in particular, on addressing illicit finance risks in the financial services, precious metals and stones, and casino sectors. In this role, he is also part of the U.S. delegation to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Prior to joining Treasury, Samuel was acting Chief of Staff and research analyst to Ambassador Bill Burns at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He also previously worked in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament, supporting parliamentary inquiries into energy, financial, and governance issues.
