Matt has been working with banks and FinTechs for over 10 years. He started his career in the London, where he supported some of the world’s biggest banks to navigate through regulatory enforcement action and redevelop Financial Crime programmes from the ground up. This included guiding business and compliance teams through a pivot in the focus of UK and European regulators to increase focus on demonstrable and effective controls. Matt took a secondment into iwoca, a leading UK FinTech focusing on business lending, working with their executive team to deliver across a range of customer and risk objectives.
Matt then turned his attention back to Financial Crime in the Australian market. He now leads EY’s Transaction Monitoring capability in Australia. As part of this role, he works with the leading financial services firms and industry bodies to improve their AML programmes, with a particular focus on end to end Transaction Monitoring, through applying new technologies from risk and other fields to understand and mitigate risks in the most efficient and effective way.
