Waldon
Darrell Waldon is the Executive Director of Advanced Analytics & Innovation. He leads six subordinate organizations that are staffed by approximately 200 employees. As the Executive Director, Darrell and his team leverages data to identify and support criminal investigations throughout the world.
Prior to this role, Darrell was the Executive Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for the Washington, D.C. Field Office. As the SAC, he was responsible for planning, directing, and evaluating the activities of about 200 highly skilled employees that investigated violations of the tax code and other financial crimes within the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Darrell began his career with IRS:CI in 2006 as a Special Agent in the Atlanta Field Office, after working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Mergers & Acquisitions Tax and Assurance practice for approximately 2 years. In 2012, he was selected as a Supervisory Special Agent in the New York Field Office, Brooklyn, New York. In July 2014, Darrell reported as a Senior Analyst in International Operations and was later selected to serve as a Special Assistant to the IRS Commissioner. He worked in this role until April 2015 when he reported to the Chicago Field Office as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge. Darrell then was selected to lead the Seattle Field Office in June 2016, as the Special Agent in Charge.
Thereafter, Darrell served in various IRS:CI Headquarter roles to include, Deputy Director and Acting Executive Director of Refund & Cyber Crimes. Darrell also took a temporary assignment in the IRS’s Research, Applied Analytics & Statistics as an Initiative Director, overseeing the Tax Exempt & Government Entities compliance research portfolio.
