On January 1, 2021 Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act and within it the AML Act of 2020(“AMLA”). The AMLA is considered the most comprehensive set of reforms to AML laws in the United States since the passage of the USA PATRIOT Act in 2001. The AMLA significantly increases government resources to address money laundering, increases penalties for BSA/AML violations in a number of ways, established the National Priorities, expands the Whistle blower Provisions, and more. Join us as we explore this Act and discuss what it means for you and your financial institution.
