I am the Director of Field Operations (DFO) for IRS Criminal Investigation’s Western Area. In my current role, I oversee IRS:CI’s field operations for the Western United States, Hawaii, and Guam, including the Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Phoenix/Las Vegas, Denver, and St. Louis Field Offices.
I began my career with IRS:CI in 2000 as a Special Agent in West Virginia where I investigated tax, money laundering, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and related criminal violations. I led the Financial Crimes Taskforce in Wheeling, WV, which specialized in using Bank Secrecy Act data to identify and investigate significant white collar criminal violations. In 2010, I was promoted to the role of Supervisory Special Agent in Toledo, OH. There I led the IRS:CI group responsible for covering Northwestern Ohio. Following my work in Toledo, I was a Headquarters’ Senior Analyst with Review and Program Evaluation as well as Global Financial Crimes. As a Senior Analyst, I conducted internal reviews/risk assessments and was in charge of program areas that included Third Party Money Laundering (3PML), Gaming, Bankruptcy, Healthcare, and Entitlement Fraud. Next, I spent four months as the Acting Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) in Boston, MA before being selected as the permanent ASAC for the Tampa Field Office. In Tampa, I oversaw IRS:CI’s field operations for the Northern and Middle Judicial Districts of Florida. I was then promoted to Chief of Staff for IRS:CI, working directly for the Chief’s Office in a key leadership role that involved facilitating communications with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring efficient operations across the organization. From my role as Chief of Staff, I was selected as the SAC for the Cincinnati Field Office where I oversaw IRS:CI’s operations in Ohio and Kentucky. Prior to being promoted to my current role as DFO for the Western Area, I was the Executive Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for the Los Angeles Field Office (LAFO), which is IRS:CI’s largest field office by population.
My passion is leading people. I embrace a philosophy that I call the “Leadership Multiplier.” The philosophy emphasizes that you can only do so much as an individual leader, but by focusing on the development and success of others you can greatly increase your ability to make an impact. Those people that you touch will go on to make a difference in the lives and development of others. In this way your impact will be multiplied!
