Yong
Frances Yong is the founder of White Byte, an organisation that promotes digital inclusion for the elderly, and cyber integrity in the community. She is the developer of PROTEC (Programme for Technology and Cyber Safety), a two-prong community programme that raises awareness of cybercrime among the elderly and youths i.e. PROTEC creates an engaging learning experience by pairing youth volunteers with elderly participants to support the latter in learning how to use and protect their devices. Besides the elderly, Frances is also involved in raising cybercrime and online harm awareness among other vulnerable groups e.g. medical patients, at-risk youths. She is recognised as a Master Trainer in Digital Literacy by the ASEAN Foundation, as part of a wider global initiative supported by Google.org. Prior to founding White Byte, Frances was a group-risk professional in the financial industry in the disciplines of fraud, cyber and operational risks. Among the roles she held were the Global Lead for Cybercrime Culture and External Awareness, and the Head of Fraud Learning and Awareness. Frances started her career in advertising and marketing. Some of her notable achievements at that time include leading her clients to be inducted into the Guinness Book of Records, winning a few marketing and creative awards as well as being a judge in regional and international creative awards.
