Paramasivam
Mr Lawrence Paramasivam joined the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) in 2007 and was appointed in October 2019 as a Director in the Strategy, Policy and Risk Division. Mr. Paramasivam is currently responsible for leading DFSA’s participation and response to international assessments conducted by Financial Action Task Force and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development in relation to financial crime and tax related matters.
Prior to this role, he was the Director, Conduct of Business, in the Supervision Division for 5 years.
Mr Paramasivam was responsible for leading the supervision of conduct of business risks, including Financial Crime risks, for DFSA regulated entities in the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Mr Paramasivam has more than 20 years of legal and regulatory experience. In his early years at the DFSA he held various roles within the Policy team, Legal team, and Supervision Division of the DFSA. Prior to joining the DFSA, he held senior roles at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission within the Compliance and Enforcement Division. He has led multi-disciplinary supervisory and investigative teams with a focus on conduct of business risks. He has also practiced in various roles as an in-house Counsel, in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Mr Paramasivam holds a bachelor of law degree (LLB) and bachelor in business-accountancy from the Queensland University of Technology. He was admitted as a barrister to the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1997.
