Overview
Trade-based money laundering (TBML) is often perceived by money launderers as an attractive method for their criminal activities. This is mainly because trade-related money laundering is often hidden within legitimate trading activities and spans across multiple jurisdictions and organizations, further complicating its detection.
This knowledge session will provide an overview of typologies, common techniques and the main challenges of TBML in financial institutions, followed by legal and regulatory framework to operational best practices as well as practical experiences.
The audience will get some tips to setting up an efficient internal control framework.
