Christian is an anti-bribery and corruption expert that has worked in regional and global compliance leadership roles with financial institutions that include Standard Chartered, Deutsche Bank, and Nomura.  Based out of Singapore, he has joined PayPal and is responsible for leading the global anti-bribery and corruption, ethics, and reputational risk compliance programs.

Chris’s has second line responsibilities for ‘Fraud Waste and Abuse’, ‘Anti-Bribery and Corruption’ and ‘Third Party Risk Management’ across the Prudential Group. Chris has been with the Prudential for seven years, moving to Hong Kong five years ago as part of the Group’s pivot to Asia and Africa. Prior to working for Prudential, Chris spearheaded the development of a criminal intelligence function for the UK’s Health Service, helping to protect $192b in annual spend. More generally Chris has worked in intelligence, strategy, investigation, financial crime prevention and whistleblowing roles for very large organisations in a career spanning thirty years. Chris previously studied in the UK at what is now the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice with a focus upon ‘counter fraud’, ‘corruption’ and ‘criminal justice’.

David O’Brien is Head of Audit for Financial Crime Compliance at Standard Chartered, where he leads audit coverage across more than 40 markets. A seasoned financial crime and internal audit expert, his work has spanned anti-money laundering, sanctions, fraud, and anti-bribery & corruption. With over two decades of experience across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, David brings a global perspective and practical insight to the evolving financial crime landscape.
