Overview

Elder abuse continues to be a pervasive problem throughout the world.  In its last elder abuse report released in 2023, the FBI identified $3.4 billion in losses reported through the IC3, an 11% year over year increase over the prior year.  Elder abuse takes a variety of forms, from a variety of scams perpetrated on the elderly population, to neglect and abuse.
