Sameer is a risk and compliance business leader with over 20 years of cross-cultural experience in regulatory compliance and financial crime prevention cutting across global investment banks, financial institutions and a Big 4 consulting firm. He has worked with reputed organisations such as EY, Barclays, HSBC, Deutsche Bank, Travelex, ICICI Bank UK and GE Capital across the UK and India. He is experienced at leading large Financial Crime Compliance teams who ensure adherence to global AML standards and regulations. He has also worked in the capacity of Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in the UK and has been responsible for policy and procedure formulation, handling financial crimes related law enforcement and regulatory inquiries as well as investigating and filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR’s) with the local Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
Sameer is passionate about AML as a subject and has also attained the CAMS professional certification in 2012 and the ICA Diploma in AML in 2008. He firmly believes that learning and development is a continuous journey and has previously led the Global Compliance Learning Group for Barclays and has been instrumental in setting the global standard for financial crime learning and development at EY. In his current role at EY, in addition to providing operational leadership, he is also focused on business development and pursuit management wherein he supports banking and capital markets clients with their challenges by helping design solutions for their needs.
