William
Matchko
After graduating high school in Las Vegas, William joined the US Army. He earned the rank of Sergeant and deployed around the world supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He Joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2005 and served as a Field Training Officer and Gang Detective. Upon promotion to Sergeant, he became the supervisor of the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force in partnership with the FBI.
He currently serves as a Lieutenant in the Gang Vice Bureau where he oversees the Child Exploitation Task Force and the Southern Nevada Human Trafficking Task Force.
Lieutenant Matchko has been the recipient of the Crisis Intervention Team Officer of the Year, The LVMPD Life-Saving Award, and the Medal of Honor for his actions on 1 October.
In his off-duty time, Lieutenant Matchko enjoys time with his family, is an avid hockey player and enjoys learning and coaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
