Sarah works on business intelligence and partner assessment projects throughout South-East Asia, with a focus on Myanmar. She is fluent in English and has intermediate proficiency in Burmese. Prior to joining Control Risks, Sarah spent seven years with Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including three years at the Singapore Embassy in Yangon covering political and economic developments in Myanmar. She has extensive experience working with MNC clients on regulatory issues and government relations in her past roles with Asia-focused advisory firms.
Recent projects that Sarah has worked on in Myanmar:
- Conducting a partner assessment on behalf of a multinational firm looking to set up a mineral processing plant in Myanmar with a local mining company. This assessment focused on the sanctions and reputational risks related to the counter-party’s military connections.
- Targeted business intelligence on behalf of an international private equity firm focusing on the military links of a local conglomerate in Myanmar, particularly claims related to the conglomerate being involved in the arms trade.
