Kate Carey is currently Senior Humanitarian Affairs Officer for OCHA Syria. Prior to that she was Head of the Strategy & Coordination Unit at OCHA Afghanistan for almost three years, as well as Programme Coordinator for WFP's earthquake response in Nepal and Head of Donor Relations & Policy in Sudan. Before joining the UN, Kate worked for the International Crisis Group in both Brussels and New York where she focused on various policy issues, including the Responsibility to Protect, as well as private sector development in Asia. She has also worked for the European Parliament, DFID and a leading financial PR firm. Kate holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Bristol in Philosophy & Politics and a masters from the LSE in International Relations.
