Dan
Soto, CAMS
Dan is the Chief Compliance Officer and member of the Executive Council at Ally, where he is responsible for the firm’s enterprise-wide compliance activities. Before joining Ally, Dan spent time working at several large, global institutions, where he led the compliance function or was in-charge of the global anti-money laundering program. Prior to joining the private industry, Dan was in the public sector as a commissioned bank examiner with the FDIC and a supervisory official with the Federal Reserve Board. Dan is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a member of and speaker at several trade group and public/private sector initiatives including: a faculty member of the American Bankers Association’s (ABA) National Compliance School; an advisory board member for the ABA’s annual Risk and Compliance Conference; formerly the Chairman, Operations & Regulatory Compliance Committee (ORCC) for the American Financial Services Association (AFSA); and is currently on the advisory boards of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Coalition. Dan has served on the editorial advisory board for the Banking Exchange; is a board member of the North Carolina Council on Economic Education; and in 2014, was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the ABA Compliance Administrative Committee. In 2022, Dan was named the Executive of the Year by the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA).
