Barnard
Detective Inspector Christiaan Barnard is the Manager of the NZ Police Central Asset Recovery Unit responsible for restraints and confiscations in the lower half of the North Island. He is a career Police Officer with nearly 25 years’ service and previously worked as the manager of the Financial Intelligence Unit and acted as the Director of the Financial Crime Group. He has held leadership roles in as both a uniform shift commander and as a criminal investigations manager. He remains actively involved in operational policing through his part-time positions as the Commander of the Wellington District Police Negotiation Team and as a commander in the NZ Police Disaster Victim Identification team. He holds a BA(Hons – Criminology) from Victoria University where he tutored criminology for 10 years.
