As ACAMS CEO, Neil Sternthal is responsible for steering the organization's strategic direction and overseeing key initiatives that will shape ACAMS' long-term trajectory and impact across the anti-financial crime (AFC) community.

Neil has extensive experience in the legal and financial sectors, having served in various leadership roles at Thomson Reuters (NYSE: TRI) for nearly two decades. During his tenure, he led several key divisions with revenues of approximately $400M to nearly $1B. Most recently, he served as the Managing Director of its Global & Large Law Firms segment, achieving significant revenue growth since its 2018 inception which he created and led. His strategic foresight, innovation emphasis, customer-centric focus and exceptional execution have driven progressive strategies within Thomson Reuters global businesses.

Prior to that position, Neil held various leadership roles within Thomson Reuters. He has led global teams of approximately 1,500 professionals in functions spanning sales, marketing, editorial, product development, technology, talent and HR and finance.

Notably, Neil is a steward for diversity and inclusion, as he served as the Co-Chair of TR Equity Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board.

Neil earned his bachelor’s degree in international relations with high distinction from the University of Toronto, Trinity College, a master’s degree in modern history from the University of Oxford, St. Antony’s College, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from McGill University, Faculty of Law.
