In recent years, the nature of economic sanctions has evolved in its complexity – going beyond comprehensive, list-based or sectoral sanctions. Financial institutions have to keep pace with the continuous and evolving changes of the extra territoriality implications OR face penalties if the information is not accurate, timely or complete. In addition, the EU now defines sanctions circumvention and evasion as a criminal offense. Our upcoming in-person event in Geneva focuses on sanctions and provides an overview of the legal and regulatory landscape in Switzerland, data challenges and its impacts, as well as practical implications via case studies shared by sanctions practitioners.
