ACAMS Germany Chapter: Intelligence-Led Financial Crime Risk Management

1
ACAMS Credit
Overview
In recent years - in response to the high-profile AML breaches (and fines) that have been reported worldwide - innovative ways of utilising people, process and technology are being leveraged by financial institutions to manage financial crime risk more effectively.
An intelligence-led approach has emerged where financial crime intelligence and investigations units fuse data science, open-source intelligence and network analytics to develop a more proactive approach to the detection and investigation of potentially suspicious activity. In this session we will:
- Outline the core objectives that an intelligence-led approach is trying to achieve;
- Examine the role of technology and innovation – especially the use of open-source intelligence and network analytics; and
- Provide perspectives from AML/AFC practitioners regarding the challenges and benefits of developing dedicated financial intelligence and investigations units.
