Presentation 1 – Trade-Based Money Laundering
Dr Jamie Ferrill, Charles Sturt University
The presentation on Trade-Based Money Laundering (TBML) will cover the methods used to disguise illicit funds within legitimate trade transactions, exploring detection techniques and regulatory challenges. Attendees will gain insights into the evolving landscape of financial crime, with a focus on practical strategies for combating TBML in the global economy.
Presentation 2 – FinCrime in the Pacific Region
Chris Cass, Specialist Leader, Financial Crime Advisory, Deloitte
The presentation will discuss the latest illicit finance trends globally, and how countries are responding with innovation. The presentation will also cover the illicit finance challenges the Pacific Islands are facing.
Presentation 3 – The Future of Sanctions
Claudine Lamond and Suhi Sivanathan, Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)
The speakers will discuss emerging Sanctions trends and compliances in the context of the Australian Sanctions framework, providing regulatory perspective. The discussion will also cover update on the Sanctions Regulations review exercise that was undertaken by the Australian Sanctions Office last year.
