Michael Brito is an Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) of the Drug Enforcement Administration's New Jersey Field Division covering the Northern State of New Jersey. ASAC Brito is a twenty-six-year veteran of the DEA having served diverse assignments to include multi-agency international investigations and local impact initiatives in both foreign and domestic offices.

Prior to joining the Drug Enforcement Administration, ASAC Brito served in the United States Marine Corp, and as a Special Investigator with the New York State Attorney General's Office.

ASAC Brito began his career with the DEA in the Miami Field Division where he served as a Special Agent assigned to a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force. After serving as a Special Agent in Miami, Florida, ASAC Brito continued his career as a Special Agent Advisor for the Colombian National Police in Cartagena, Colombia while assigned overseas at the Cartagena, Colombia Resident Office, South America.

After serving in Cartagena, Colombia, ASAC Brito was promoted as a Supervisory Special Agent at the New Jersey Field Division overseeing the Financial Investigative Team and a Task Force during his initial tenure. Some of the vital missions ASAC Brito coordinated was the Violent Enterprise Source Targeting (VEST) Program, overseeing the Division's Financial Shelf Accounts, and supervising the Newark Airport Interdiction Program during his tenure at the New Jersey Field Division. ASAC Brito later returned to South America as a Group Supervisor and Program Manager assigned to the Lima, Peru Country Office working side by side with Peruvian foreign leaders and the US Department of State.

Upon completion of his overseas tour in Lima, Peru, ASAC Brito reported to DEA Headquarters as a Unit Chief at the Office of Special Intelligence, where he supported and oversaw the Data Collection Unit, which supported both DEA foreign and domestic offices. While at DEA Headquarters, ASAC Brito was later promoted to Deputy Section Chief for the Cyber Support Section where ASAC Brito contributed to establishing policy for DEA in the handling of crypto currency, affecting cyber-related investigations world-wide.

After serving as Deputy Section Chief at DEA Headquarters, ASAC Brito returned to the New Jersey Field Division as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge with oversight of various Task Forces, Enforcement, Special Support, Asset Removal, and Technical Operations Groups.

ASAC Brito demonstrates leadership skills from his military service, time in local law enforcement, and from his positions in both domestic and foreign environments. ASAC Brito's diverse background and leadership experience make him exceptionally well-rounded.
