John Koehler is a Colorado native currently living in Loveland. In his twenties, John served in the United States Air Force at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. He was an Avionics Technician working on F-15 Eagle Tactical Fighter Aircraft. Following military service, John attended Colorado State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Biology.
After college John worked as a seasonal Wildlife Biologist for Wildlife Services in Anchorage, Alaska, conducting waterfowl studies. He then worked as a Zookeeper at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, before accepting a job as a Wildlife Specialist for the Arizona Game and Fish Department where he did everything from endangered species research to computer mapping to managing a Wildlife Area and Bison Ranch for the State of Arizona.
For the last 23 years John has worked in law enforcement with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. He was a Wildlife Officer/Game Warden for 18 years covering the Boulder/Longmont/Loveland area before being promoted to Criminal Investigator where he has served for the last 5 years. Since 2022 John has also been assigned as a federal Task Force Officer with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, where he works on wildlife crime investigations throughout the United States.
In his free time, John enjoys camping, hiking, hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He is a certified Motorcycle Riding Coach at Clutch Motorcycle School in Loveland where he teaches new riders how to ride. John is married to his lovely wife, Kristin, and has two wonderful adult daughters, Bethany and Shea.
