Sergeant Manny Nevarez began his career with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in August 2000, reporting to the Redwood City Area after graduating from the CHP Academy. In October 2005, he was transferred to the Golden Gate Division Investigative Services Unit, where he was assigned to Auto Theft Task Forces in Alameda and Santa Clara counties. In December 2021, he was promoted to sergeant and took on the responsibility of overseeing the CHP’s Organized Retail Crime Task Force (ORCTF).
In his current role, Sergeant Nevarez juggles numerous responsibilities, including supervising the CHP Crisis Negotiation Team and the Warrant Service Team. Since joining the ORCTF, he has overseen more than 200 investigations and has testified as an expert witness in court proceedings related to Auto Theft and Organized Retail Crime. Due to his extensive knowledge of property crime investigations, he was certified by California Peace Officer Standards and Training to become a Property Crimes Academy instructor.
Despite managing a demanding workload, Sergeant Nevarez is known for his positive attitude, sense of humor, and unwavering professionalism. He is always willing to lend a hand and has built exceptional relationships with colleagues, supervisors, allied agencies, and members of the retail industry.
A devoted husband and father, Sergeant Nevarez takes immense pride in his family and finds fulfillment in balancing his personal and professional roles.
