Senior Strategic Engagement AdvisorFinancial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN)
Alexa Besser is a Senior Strategic Engagement Advisor for the Strategic Operations Division (SOD) of the U.S. Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). SOD is responsible for designing and implementing FinCEN’s strategic partnerships across industry, government colleagues, and foreign counterparts. In her current role, Alexa proactively builds FinCEN’s public-private partnerships -- her focus being on counter-fentanyl initiatives. Alexa has also served as a Global Engagement Specialist in SOD, where she oversaw FinCEN’s relationships with key partners, including those from Canada and Mexico. She has used this experience to build out not only domestic, but cross-border, public-private collaboration on priority illicit finance threats. Prior to joining FinCEN, Alexa worked as a Compliance Officer at Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control and an International Affairs Specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs. Alexa is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, where she studied political science and Spanish.
