
Tanya Montoya
Director Product & Technology Management – AML RiskACAMS
In her role as Director of Product and Technology Management-AML Risk, Tanya is responsible for the management and strategic oversight of ACAMS Risk Assessment®, the association’s Risk Assessment software solution designed to offer financial institutions worldwide, a standardized means of measuring, understanding and explaining their money laundering risks.
During her twelve-year tenure with the organization, Ms. Montoya has taken the product from inception to a full launch and forged strategic relationships and partnerships with key industry members in both the public and private sector, comprised of AML thought leaders from global financial institutions and banking regulatory authorities. In this capacity, Tanya is also responsible for the full governance, audit, and product development/technology of this critical software tool as it relates to global AML best practices, guidance, regulation and cyber security. Through these endeavors, Ms. Montoya is able to extend her expertise and knowledge in the space to ACAMS Risk Assessment users that seek guidance in the application and implementation of the tool against their institution’s own risk assessment obligations.
In addition to her principal responsibilities, Ms. Montoya co-founded the organization’s first volunteer committee, ACAMS Fight Against Human Trafficking Committee, a cause she holds dear to her heart, and during her tenure as Chair, developed employee volunteer programs and collaborated with organizations worldwide to assist in the fight against this heinous crime.
Prior to joining ACAMS, Ms. Montoya held over 15 years in strategic management for a wide range of corporations, industries, and governmental organizations.
Tanya holds a Master of Science Degree in International Affairs from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Florida International University.
