Adelstein
In her current role, Ms. Adelstein advises Mastercard’s executive management in areas such as central bank engagements and regulatory oversight, licenses, regulation of fintech, systemic importance, open banking, central bank digital currencies and stablecoins/cryptocurrency. In addition, Ms. Adelstein advises Mastercard’s Global Board of Directors on regulatory compliance risk and is counsel to the organization on AML and sanctions.
Ms. Adelstein manages a team of regulatory attorneys and regulatory compliance professionals located around the world and designs the Regulatory Affairs strategy for the organization globally.
In 2017-2018, Ms. Adelstein was a member of the Consumer Advisory Board of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”), a group that advised the regulator’s leadership on a broad range of consumer financial issues and emerging market trends.
Prior to 2011, Ms. Adelstein served as Litigation counsel for Mastercard and was responsible for commercial litigations as well as counseling internal clients on antitrust, pricing, customer compliance, payment system data breaches and records retention.
Prior to joining Mastercard, Ms. Adelstein was an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Clifford Chance US LLP. As an associate, she handled complex litigation and counseled clients on a range of issues including antitrust, securities, white collar, and general commercial litigation.
Ms. Adelstein is currently a mentor with the American Corporate Partners program and has been a mentor in the Her Honor Mentoring program and the Pace University Law School Mentoring Program. Ms. Adelstein was previously on the Executive Committee for the New York State Bar Association Antitrust Section and was the Co-Chair of the Antitrust & Trade Regulation section of the WESFACCA Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel.
Ms. Adelstein received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science degree from Long Island University, and a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree from Fordham University. She was an evening student at Fordham University and served as a member of the Fordham Environmental Law Journal.
