Daniel currently serves as Vice President leading the Financial Crimes Metrics & Reporting Data Insights team at Truist Bank in Atlanta, GA. In his current role, Daniel provides subject matter expertise on development and continuous improvement of AML & fraud metrics and reporting to support risk management framework, management reporting, and design of business intelligence visualizations to deliver analysis and insights for multiple business groups within financial crimes.
Previously, Daniel served as the Vice President and BSA/AML MIS Manager at SunTrust Bank with the responsibility of overseeing, monitoring, and providing subject matter expertise the Consumer Bank’s first line of defense AML/KYC operations and enterprise AML compliance teams. In this role, Daniel also lead Consumer Bank’s special projects to operationalize Know Your Customer (KYC) & Enhance Due Diligence (EDD) periodic refresh, KRIs/KPIs & operational metrics, oversight monitoring, committee reporting, AML/OFAC risk assessments, issues & regulatory exam management, and applications/systems change management initiatives to align KYC/CDD/EDD processes to enterprise BSA/AML policy and guidelines.
Prior to joining SunTrust in 2015, Daniel worked over ten years at Trustmark National Bank starting his career in bank operations before being promoted into the bank’s BSA/AML compliance program. During his tenure in BSA/AML Daniel held multiple roles leading tuning & optimization of AML systems and the deployment of sustainable processes to comply with bank policies, AML regulations, and eliminating inefficiencies in the areas of currency transactions reporting, KYC, EDD, high risk activity investigations, and suspicious activity reporting (SAR).
Daniel has over 17 years of experience in the financial service industry with a background leading AML program through transformational changes. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Belhaven University, is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and serves as a Board Member for the ACAMS Atlanta Chapter.
