Duwayne Lawrence

Duwayne Lawrence is the Head of Advisory Services, Regulatory Affairs, in the Ministry of Financial Services and Commerce. He currently has responsibility for policy and legislative development and implementation in various areas of financial services regulation in the Cayman Islands, including the implementation of international AML/CFT regulatory standards. He was deeply involved in the Caymans Islands’ 4th round mutual evaluation process, and was a Reviewer for Antigua and Barbuda’s 4th round mutual evaluation report. More recently, he was the Legal Expert on Saint Lucia’s 4th Enhanced Follow-Up Report and Technical Compliance Re-Ratings. 

Prior to joining the Ministry he was a Regulatory Associate in one of Cayman’s law firms and, prior to that, the Senior Legal and Policy Analyst in the Anti-Money Laundering Unit in the Attorney General’s Chambers. He is an attorney-at-law holding a Masters in International Business Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
