Overview
The ACAMS Midwest Regulator AMA (Ask Me Anything) Speaker Series is the first event of many to come where the ACAMS Greater St. Louis Chapter & the ACAMS Kansas City Chapter will join forces to hold events which will involve a regulator to serve on a panel who will address the most-voted on questions presented by the audience members! Each Chapter will host a new regulator to serve on the panel who will serve as a representative from varying regulatory organizations, including but not limited to The Federal Reserve, Office of Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FinCEN), etc…
The best part…The questions come from you! Questions can be submitted anonymously, and event registrants can vote on the questions prior to the event. The questions with the most votes will be presented during the event. This is your opportunity to ask a regulator ANYTHING!!!
For the second event of the series, the ACAMS KC Chapter will be hosting the event, and our regulatory panellist will be Derek Skidmore. Derek is a Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Derek joined the OCC in September 2023 and specializes in compliance, fair lending, BSA, CRA, and novel bank compliance management systems for the agency. Derek got his start in banking in 2005 at US Bank in retail and operational roles. In 2013 Derek moved into the Compliance Department at Dickinson Financial Corporation (Academy Bank and Armed Forces Bank), and later to Lead Bank (2021). Derek held various compliance related roles at DFC and Lead including Compliance Testing Officer, Staff Compliance Officer, CRA Officer, and Director of Compliance. Derek enjoys researching regulation, training others on how to interpret/understand regulation, qualifying CRA activities, and auditing/monitoring. Derek graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia (undergrad) and the University of Missouri-Kansas City (MBA).
The ACAMS St. Louis Chapter is truly excited to kick off the ACAMS Midwest Regulator AMA Speaker Series and invite anyone to attend! Once you register, a follow up e-mail will be sent to the registrant and questions can be submitted using a link found in the e-mail. Register today to secure your spot!!!
