Chew Qi currently heads the AML/CFT Department in Bank of Singapore (BOS), a key private bank subsidiary under OCBC Group. He oversees the overall AML/CFT programme, framework and controls over the BOS Group of entities. He also works closely with OCBC Group’s AMLCFT function in key enterprise-wide ML/TF risk areas.
Prior to joining BOS, Chew Qi worked in the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) as a Division Head in the International Department. During his tenure in MAS, his work covered a broad span, including AML/CFT policy and regulatory work at financial sector level, working with multiple agencies on the National ML/TF Risk Assessment and being involved in the previous FATF Mutual Evaluation of Singapore.
Chew Qi was also involved in financial sector development work via his overseas posting to MAS Beijing Office to deepen Singapore’s financial cooperation with China. In 2018, Chew Qi led the MAS Regional Development Division during Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship year, a once-in-a-decade opportunity to work closely with key ASEAN central bank partners to jointly further the region’s financial sector priorities.
Before the MAS, Chew Qi worked in Group Compliance of UOB and was involved in exercising oversight for the international franchise in both AMLCFT and General Compliance areas. Prior to joining the financial sector, he served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a political officer covering the Greater China region.
