Ken Simmons CAMS-Audit/ FCI, RM, CGSS, CRCM has served the Financial Industry for more than 35 years covering most aspects of ERM. He serves as ACAMS Faculty and review Board member for more than a decade. Ken is serving as faculty for the CGSS exam prep school at this year’s conference and has done so in years past. He routinely serves as faculty for CAMS-Audit, Risk Management, Sanctions and Financial Crimes certification programs. Ken is the BSA/AML Officer for Atlantic Capital Bank (a leading financial institution serving innovative technologies). He has also provided educational services and consulting through Compliance & AML Solutions for the past decade to community banks across the country. A brief summary of his extensive career includes serving the:
- Office of Comptroller Currency (OCC) Industry Expert & Regulatory Compliance/ BSA/ Fair Lending EIC
- Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) – Regulatory Compliance Expert
- Chief Compliance Officer for several large Regional and mid-size institutions;
- Bank Secrecy and Fraud Officer
- General Auditor for multi-billion institutions
Ken served as a faculty member for the OCC’s Advanced Examination Schools for BSA, Compliance & Fair Lending.
Ken is a published author of several industry -based whitepapers. The first, published in 2001 Learning from the Mistakes of Other: Matter Requiring Attention is the only published paper, based on OCC confidential supervisory examination reports of over 100 financial institutions. A second whitepaper (2015) Relative – THIEF – Confidant Powers-of-Attorney delves into the risks and controls associated with Powers-of-Attorneys.
He is an accomplished speaker and communicator as well. He has routinely provided presentations throughout his career for FNMA, ABA, GBA, CBA, FNBB & ACAMS; and has represented both the FDIC and OCC at industry events.
