Roberto Crespi is a Legal Officer in the Sanctions Unit of the Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA), European Commission. Prior to that, Roberto worked as a lawyer in international law firms in Italy, United Kingdom and Belgium. He also worked as legal specialist in a EU Agency in Spain.
At DG FISMA, Roberto is in charge of monitoring the EU sanctions vis-à-vis the situation in Syria, with a special focus on the unintended impact of sanctions on humanitarian aid. In this role, Roberto led and coordinated the preparation of the 2020 Commission Guidance Note on the provision of humanitarian aid to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in certain environments under sanctions.
