If you missed it at the ACAMS Las Vegas Assembly, this is your opportunity to experience it in South Florida. This program will spotlight a real South Florida Medicare fraud case presented by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), offering rare, real-world insight into how complex healthcare fraud schemes are identified, investigated, and disrupted. As the scheme moved through the local financial system, the discussion will highlight the direct impact on South Florida’s banking and financial services community.

The program will conclude with an expert panel discussion that expands beyond the healthcare fraud typology to examine the related AML and financial crime risks that stem from healthcare fraud, including the laundering of illicit proceeds, the use of third-party and professional enablers, and weaknesses in AML controls exposed by criminal activity. The panel will also focus on the critical role of public–private partnerships, highlighting how government agencies and financial institutions can work together to disrupt these networks through information sharing, coordinated investigations, and proactive risk management.
