Stitzel
James (Jim) Stitzel currently serves as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) for the Homeland Security Investigation’s (HSI) Norfolk, VA office. In his role as the ASAC Jim manages a team of more than 70 special agents, criminal analysts, mission support personnel and task force officers focused on enabling the key law enforcement mission of HSI. As ASAC he has oversight of the highly successful Hampton Roads Human Trafficking Task Force (HRHTTF) the Hampton Peninsula High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) and the HSI Resident Agent in Charge (RAC) office in Richmond, VA. Prior to arriving at the HSI Norfolk office Jim served three and half years as the Chief for the Department of Homeland Security Joint Task Force East’s (JTF-E) International and Inter-agency section. Jim began his law enforcement career in 1997 as an Immigration Inspector for the Immigration and Nationalization Service (INS) in Washington DC. After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, he accepted a position with the Federal Air Marshal program where he served in the National Capital Region covering 3 major airports. In April of 2003, he was hired as a Special Agent with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
