Overview

This panel will explore the evolving dynamic between Boards and their organizations, focusing on how governance frameworks for Financial Crime Compliance can move beyond theory into practical application. The discussion aims to provide actionable insights for our HK FC compliance professionals on strengthening oversight and resilience in a rapidly changing risk environment. The session will include representation from Senior Compliance Executive, Regulator (HKMA) and Board member to provide valuable perspectives.

Discussion will broadly cover:

• Culture and Alignment: How Boards can assess and influence FCC culture, including challenges posed by flexible work arrangements.
• Crisis Readiness: What differentiates Boards that react defensively from those that use breaches as catalysts for strategic reset, and how FCC functions can enable proactive preparedness.
• Growth vs Governance: Balancing business expansion with robust FCC controls, identifying warning signs of under-prioritized risks, and quantifying investment where success means “nothing happens.”
• Beyond Policy: Monitoring FCC culture effectiveness and spotting gaps between paper compliance and real-world practice.
