Aaron joined DHL Express in 2019 and is responsible for export control and sanctions compliance in every country across the world. Prior to joining DHL Express he had a varied career in HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) including as Head of Counter-proliferation, leading on stakeholder engagement on Brexit and customs, and implementing the WCO Trade Facilitation Agreement.
While with HMRC he went on a three year sabbatical to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) where he worked on a range of export control issues and published papers on the Proliferation Security Initiative (PSI), and United Arab Emirates export controls; and led a MacArthur Foundation-funded project on leveraging the logistics sector to counter proliferation. Prior to joining HMRC he was the lead analyst on Iranian politico-military affairs at the UK Defence Intelligence Staff (DIS), and undertook post-graduate research on Iranian electoral politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and studied at the University of Tehran.
