Inspector Leong leads the Royal Canadian Mounted Police’s dedicated team in response to the Cullen Commission of Inquiry into Money Laundering in British Columbia. Insp. Leong also holds the role of Officer in Charge of the Counter Illicit Finance Alliance of BC (CIFA-BC), which evolved from Project Athena. His service in the area of commercial crimes includes a secondment to the RCMP’s Integrated Market Enforcement Team and establishment of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Integrated Security Unit’s Financial Integrity & Intelligence Team, which oversaw the financial integrity of $4.5 billion worth of Olympic and related infrastructure construction projects.
Insp. Leong has enjoyed a diverse career serving in BC and Ontario in other disciplines including criminal intelligence, major events, internal affairs, leading the BC RCMP Professional Responsibility Unit and as a Serious Crime Team Leader at Surrey RCMP Detachment. Prior to joining the RCMP in 2002, he worked for more than five years in the financial services industry spread across an investment & wealth management firm, a chartered bank and a credit union. Gregory studied Finance and International Business at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Victoria.
