Matt is Head of Financial Crime Policy, Advisory and External Engagement at Santander UK. Matt is responsible for 4 teams that lead the banks financial crime policies and standards, provide guidance and advice to business areas on complex financial crime cases and other matters, lead cross cutting strategic policy development and manage the banks external engagement on financial crime matters. Matt and his teams represent the bank in a number of industry and public sector forum.
Matt has been with Santander over 5 years. Prior to that, Matt spent 5 years as Director of Financial Crime at the British Bankers’ Association. His earlier career was with the Civil Service, working in a number of Whitehall departments dealing with financial crime, fraud and other crime policy areas. These roles provided Matt with experiences of representing the UK at the FATF, UN, EU and other international bodies.
