Shannon
David Shannon is the Director, Mutual Evaluations with the Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) Secretariat, which is based in Sydney.
The APG is the FATF-style regional anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) body for the Asia/Pacific. The APG includes 41 member jurisdictions from across the Asia/Pacific region.
Through his time at the APG Secretariat David has coordinated the Secretariat’s typologies work, directed the APG Technical Assistance programme, led APG responses to the FATF ICRG process and led Mutual Evaluations of APG and FATF members (22 so far). David most recently conducted the mutual evaluations of Japan and Vietnam and is currently leading Brunei Darussalam’s Mutual Evaluation.
David represents the APG on FATF working groups and project teams and during FATF Plenary meetings. He was the APG’s lead on contributions to the recently completed FATF Strategic Review into assessments which has determined the nature and timing of the FATF and APG’s next round of mutual evaluations.
