Thomas Williams is Senior Vice President and the Senior Compliance Manager for United Bank, which is a $2.078 billion financial institution headquartered in Zebulon, GA. Williams has served in the banking industry for 26 years, with the past 17 being spent exclusively in compliance. Prior to joining the compliance side of banking, he spent time working in the areas of audit, bank security, branch management, consumer lending and credit administration.
Thomas has a passion for compliance and enjoys the ability in his role of being able to work with all areas of the financial institution. He enjoys meeting people and networking with other peers in the industry. He feels that everyone has a unique perspective to share that can be of benefit to one another and their respective institutions. His love for people and the industry drives his desire to be a student and a teacher. Thomas speaks to groups both locally and regionally on various compliance topics and has moderated compliance panels for the Georgia Banker’s Association (GBA). He is also a regular instructor at the GBA Compliance School held annually in Athens, GA.
Williams is a graduate of Clemson University where he earned a Bachelor in Science degree in Financial Management. He currently serves as the Director of the GBA Compliance School, past chairman and current member of the GBA Compliance Committee, Co-Chairman of the ACAMS Atlanta Chapter, and serves as a board member for the ABA Regulatory Compliance Conference. Thomas holds the professional designations of Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Community Bank Internal Auditor (CCBIA), and At-Risk Adult Crime Tactics (ACT) Specialist.
