Monica

Monica is the Global Head of Sanctions and Interdiction at Western Union, which she recently joined in March 2021. Before joining Western Union, Monica was with HSBC for seven years, holding a number of roles within the banks Sanctions Compliance Program.
Most recently, Monica worked as the Regional Head of Sanctions for Latin America, based out of Mexico City. In this capacity, she oversaw HSBC’s economic sanctions program across Latin America, ensuring compliance with both international economic sanctions regimes and local laws in the markets in which HSBC operates. Prior to HSBC, Monica was a Sanctions Compliance Officer with the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Monica holds a B.A. from Tulane University and a M.A. from Georgetown University.
