Mike is the Chief AML Officer for TD Bank Group, where has held senior leadership positions in AML Compliance since 2013. He previously led TD's Global AML Operations team, overseeing all money laundering detection, investigation, reporting and enhanced due diligence activities. Mike also previously served as TD's Chief Sanctions Officer and the head of AML for Canadian Personal and Business Banking.
Mike brings more than 25 years of legal and regulatory compliance experience to his role. He began his financial services career in the Legal Department of Citibank’s Corporate Bank in New York, where he supported the Global Transaction Services businesses, focusing on corporate cash management and trade finance. With the emergence of new and revised U.S. AML legislation following the September 2001 terrorist attacks in the U.S., Mike’s area of concentration switched to AML and Sanctions, where he has been focused ever since. Prior to joining TD Bank he was the Chief Compliance Officer for Rabobank International’s wholesale operations in North and South America. His previous positions also include the Americas regional head of AML Compliance for ABN Amro Bank and Dresdner Bank. Additionally, he spent some time with a consulting firm, assisting international bank clients in the build-out and enhancement of AML/Sanctions-related governance and control processes.
Mike is a member of the Canadian Bankers Association’s Money Laundering Specialist Group. He received a Bachelor's Degree in public accounting from Iona College, and earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School.
